After your proposal is accepted ensure that the project has milestone attached to it. Please note that the client can only release the payment by approving the milestone. Hence, please ensure to add milestone with the corresponding amount to your project and get it accepted by the client.
Secondly, please ensure that the milestone that you will be working on is funded before you start working on the same.
