Adding Milestone to your Project 


Milestones can be used to split the scope of work into smaller reachable goals, making it easier to track project progress and help in splitting payment for the entire project. Please use the below steps to add milestone to your project:




Step1: Once you have hired a freelancer, proceed to the “Workspace” section on the left side bar


Step 2: On the workspace, you can add milestones and fund the project. For this, you have to go to the upcoming milestone section on the right side of the Workspace and click on “Add new”.




Step 3: Once you have clicked on the “Add New” button, you will find the “Add New Milestone” window. On this window, please provide:


  1. Title of the milestone

  2. Description that could consist of your expectations and the outcomes of the milestone.

  3. Deadline for the milestone, to better track the progress.

  4. Milestone Amount, which would help you to break down the entire project fee in part payments to pay the freelancer on submitting deliverables. 

  5. Set Alert Email Option, this allows Kolabtree to send alert emails to you and the freelancer a few days before the milestone deadline approaches. You can choose when to send the alert emails from the given options.




Step 4: Once you have added the details, click on "Save". Once the milestone is saved, the milestone is sent for Freelancer Approval before it can appear on the workspace. In the same way, if a freelancer sets a milestone, the milestone approval request will come to you before it can appear on the workspace.



Step 5: Once a milestone is completed, click on "Approve" button to release the amount associated with that milestone to the expert. You can also edit a milestone by clicking on the three dots next to the milestone.
